Joe Frank, a public radio legend who died in January, is the subject of Winnetka resident Dave Carlson’s film, “Joe Frank: Somewhere Out There.” Carlson made the film independently over an eight-year period.
Actor Harry Shearer (“The Simpsons,” “This Is Spinal Tap,” “Saturday Night Live”) stars in the film, sharing stories and experiences with Frank.

Radio and film may be two distinctly unique mediums for disseminating dialogue, music and ideas, but one Winnetka resident is hoping his film will aptly marry the two to share the legacy of an iconic radio personality whose work inspired and entertained fans for nearly 40 years.
