Winnetka residents do not want a pricey, polluting tunnel to be part of a stormwater solution. The most recent caucus survey results again showed that the current Willow Road tunnel plan is not acceptable to a majority of the village. To date, two separate caucus surveys and an official referendum have shown that Winnetkans overwhelmingly reject this “un-green” plan to create a point source of pollution into Lake Michigan. Only a scant two out of 10 precincts in the village voted in favor of the tunnel, perhaps because it has been the only solution proposed.
