How the creation of the tax increment financing district in downtown Winnetka would impact New Trier High School was a main topic of discussion at the District’s regular board meeting on Monday, Jan. 22.

Winnetka Village Council President Chris Rintz said the Village is considering placing a TIF zone in the 41-acre Elm Street business district because he believes the zone has been in decline since 2009, causing ripple effects throughout the area.

“This particular district has been a drain on all the taxing bodies,” he said.
