For many years, East Coast schools dominated NCAA Division III men’s volleyball. In fact, of this year’s 97 D-III teams, 77 are on the East Coast. That may be about to change, however, and it’s all thanks to a Loyola Academy graduate. Dan Pawlikowski, a 1996 Loyola graduate, recently finished his first season as head coach of the Dominican University men’s volleyball team, leading the squad to its best finish in the program’s five-year history — the Stars made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament, dropping a five-set heartbreaker in the semifinals to Stevens Institute.
