Following months of discussion on how to tackle the pending water main replacement project, the Winnetka Village Council directed its consultant, Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company, to proceed with drafts for a new fee structure for Winnetka residents.

The respective project will replace 72 miles of water mains that date back to the early 1900s. Based on trustee feedback, residents will likely receive monthly service charges based on meter size in an effort for the Village to achieve a 10 percent fixed cost recovery by 2020.
