Jeff Jacobs’ gift to Ringo Starr did not go over well.

Jacobs, of Glenview, presented the former drummer of the Beatles with a box of Fannie May candy before the Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band concert Saturday, Aug. 3, at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park. A grateful Jacobs had received the opportunity — which lasted nearly an hour — to meet Starr backstage via a little help from a tennis friend, who has known the iconic percussionist for more than 30 years.
