Three days prior to the one-year anniversary of the school shooting in Parkland, Fla., last Feb. 14, Wilmette’s public safety committee met on Feb. 11 to discuss gun safety.

At the Wilmette Village Board’s Feb. 12 meeting, Trustee Joel Kurzman, who is the chairman of the public safety committee, gave a report on the committee’s meeting that occurred the night before. Kurzman said that there are two topics that the committee will be pursuing follow up on and discuss further at future meetings. One of them is to promote best practices on safe gun storage.
